A recommendation is a comment written by a LinkedIn member to recognize or commend a colleague, business partner, or student. Viewers of your profile often view the recommendations you've received on your profile to see what others have to say about your work.

The best recommendations come from people who value your work, services or products, such as managers, colleagues, co-workers, customers, and clients. Hiring managers and people searching for new customers and business partners prefer to work with people who come recommended by someone they know and trust. There's no limit to the number of recommendations you can request or give.

Lecture 13 02:16
Make a call to action!!!

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is not having a call to action on your LinkedIn profile.

Lecture 14 01:41

LinkedIn Endorsements started September 24th, 2013 and are here to stay.

Taken from LinkedIn page describing endorsements.

Skill endorsements are a great way to recognize your 1st-degree connections' skills and expertise with one click. They also let your connections validate the strengths found on your own profile. Skill endorsements are a simple and effective way of building your professional brand and engaging your network.

Receiving Endorsements:

Scroll down to the Skills & Expertise section on your own profile to see endorsements you've received. You can add any skill to this section. Accumulating a high number of endorsements for a skill adds credibility to your profile, and shows that your professional network recognizes you have that skill.

Note: You dont need to ask for a skill endorsement to receive one. Youll also be notified by email when you receive an endorsement.

Giving Endorsements:

Endorsing others is a great way to recognize your colleagues for the skills youve seen them demonstrate. It helps contribute to the strength of their profile, and increases the likelihood theyll be discovered for opportunities related to the skills their connections know they possess.

Endorsing your colleagues also helps keep strong connections with the people in your network. You may find that after endorsing a colleague from the past, its easier to reach out to them because youve recently been in touch.
