Social Media For the Time and Technology Challenged

Lecture 1 TextSection 1: Facebook Lecture 2 27:24

Facebook is probably one of the most popular social media networks and allows you to interact with friends and family and share photos, all from one location. Facebook Pages are used for businesses and brands and can access the large following that Facebook has.

These videos were originally part of a webinar series, so the upcoming topic mentioned at the end of each video may not always be the next one in your Udemy course list.

Here's a link to my private Facebook group for more social media questions and interaction.

Lecture 3

Facebook Q and A (Questions and Answers)

01:12Section 2: GooglePlus Lecture 4 19:34 GooglePlus is Google's answer to Facebook and has a number of similarities. The use of Circles makes it easy to connect and message targeted people. And the Hangout feature has become very popular, allowing an instant audience with a large number of people. It also now connects to Youtube with the Hangout Live feature so you can produce your own live show that will also be broadcast and archived on Youtube.
Lecture 5 05:43

At the end of the webinar we had a bit more discussion about GooglePlus, specifically Hangouts, how often to post, and organizing your circles.

Lecture 6 02:07

The audio is a bit low on this video.

Section 3: LinkedIn Lecture 8 33:22 LinkedIn is a business social media platform and allows you to connect with key people and influencers as you share your skills and knowledge.

Lecture 16 06:21

In this video, I acted out the Twitter story that I told with slides in the previous lesson.

Imagine Twitter was a dance hall in the 1960's. This skit will explain some of the aspects of Twitter from a different perspective. Join Sally Social and Wanda Workerbee as they show you what you should and shouldn't be doing on the Twitter platform.

Lecture 17 19:49

If you'd rather listen to the story of Sally Social, as well as some introductory social media information, this audio was a live presentation I did for a local business group.

Lecture 18 29:34

This video covers * Sharing Blog Posts * Curating Content * Interaction on Twitter

Section 6: Youtube Lecture 19 03:11

If you have a number of Youtube videos on a similar topic, you might like to create a playlist. In fact, you can add other videos you find on Youtube to your playlist and become the go-to person for that topic!

Section 7: Curating Content Lecture 20 04:49

Paper.li is a web program that allows you to curate content from the Internet and from your Twitter following and publish it into a topic specific online newspaper or magazine. They have a free or paid version, and the paid version allows you to insert your own ads as well as creating a custom newsletter to send to your email list.

Lecture 21 11:39

Paper.li has changed their look and as a result, you might have trouble finding where the toolbars are now. This video will show you where to look.

Lecture 22

Hootsuite is a web based application that allows you to access all of your social media platforms from one control panel. You design the columns you need and can make it as simple or as complicated as you choose.

Update: Facebook no longer allows you to add your Newsfeed to Hootsuite for a personal Facebook profile. You can only add a Facebook stream that shows the posts you yourself have added to your personal Facebook account, along with any comments for those posts.
