And today I want to take you step-by-step through the new Facebook Timeline structure and show you how you can promote your business through your personal account, without being spammy, or breaking any of Facebooks terms of service.
First we need to look at the larger picture. I think everyone here understands that there are two main types of accounts on Facebook; the personal account (which Facebook calls the Timeline) and the business Page.
You create a business page from your personal account. In the past, you could not promote a business through your personal account (thats why Facebook opened up business pages in the first place). But things have changed a little in the last year and now there IS a way to support your business on your personal account that wont jeopardize the Terms of Service that Facebook has for personal accounts.
Im assuming you are here because you have a business. Whether or not you also have a business Page is not the main topic for this discussion. I will be drawing references to business Pages though. If you do not have an official business Page, no matter. This training webinar is focused on your personal account the Timeline -- and how you can set it up to support your business.
Having both a business Page and a personal Timeline that has been modified to support your business is a total marketing package on Facebook.
The reason to have both, is if you ever wanted to run ads on Facebook, you have to do that through a business page. You cant run ads with just a personal account, but you can pay Facebook to promote a personal post!
These are the 7 Vital Steps, as I have found, to use the new Facebook Timeline structure to support your business.
1: Cleaning up and adding to your Timeline - there are some initial housecleaning tasks to do before you can really use your Timeline to good advantage. Ill go over a list of things actionable things, you can do right now to get ready to rock this space.
2: Creating Cover image strategies- Ill go over the differences between using this space as a blatant banner ad versus an attractive representation of what your life which includes your business that is a major part of your life.
3: Turning on your Follow button I have a whole training webinar just on this one thing, but it is important to include part of that webinar here, as it is part of the flow of tasks to really use the Timeline to its fullest.
4: Strategically Following just like on any social platform, there is a set of reasons to consider before Following other peoples accounts.
5: Engaging in Conversation Ill give you a set of guidelines to use when conversing with the A-List people you Follow
6: Posting to Friends and/or the Public learning a new skill about posting Public posts.
7: Remembering your Friends keeping balanced and happy on Facebook!
