NOTICE: Whether you use MailChimp or not, I recommend making a different list for each funnel and pipeline, as opposed to segmentation only by "list fields" or "merge tags".
List fields and/or merge tags are still great and can certainly be used in many instances; however, when it comes to efficiency over time - I've found having different lists to be easier to manage.
This way, you'll just move a person from one list to another instead of messing around with list fields/merge tags.
