- What will this course be about?
This course will not tell you how to write 100 articles if you have nothing to say. What it will tell you is how to communicate with your audience through writing and how to create content that will enrich the semantic web with meaningful data, new relationships and insights.
In details we will talk about the changes the web and we as creators and consumers on it change and to what functional and formal changes this leads to in terms of your written content.

The course will cover everything you need to understand about the basics of the Semantic Web in order to use the full potential of content writing in a growingly transparent web where the relationships and the interaction you create with your writing are key to both you as individual and the business you represent.
- Details about the curriculum and the structure of the course
In the section Text and Web Metamorphoses, I will explain what is the semantic web and why you should care.
The section Writing as connecting is where we will learn about the changes the Web drives and the implications they have on one of the main ways we use to communicate, namely text, i.e. content writing.
The section Communicating in a Web of Trust of the courses bridges two ways of looking at content writing:
- from the perspective of the 4 Vs of data (volume, variety, veracity, velocity)
- from the perspective of Aristotle's three modes of persuasion - ethos, logos, pathos (the so called Rhetorical Triangle)
The section also contains an introduction to a T.E.D. concept, which is an easy way to remember that you should always aim at writing trustworthy, engageable and discoverable content.
In Writing Topical and Relevant Content section you will have three pdfs with questions for you to answer about the business you are writing for. The pdfs are on Planning, Creating and Distributing content.
The last section Write with me is the final stage of the course where I will work with you on three writing projects. Here you will practice what you've learned and we will discuss what you have written.
Each section includes a pdf with summarised takeaways translated into practical steps for content writing that will drive your business forward. The lectures in course also have various supplemental materials that will help you dive deeper or expand your understanding of what you have learnt from the slides.

This section is about the transformations web and texts are undergoing and what a content writer needs to know about them in order to tap into the possibilities the unfolding semantic web offers.
The section includes three lectures:
- Text on the Web
- Semantic Web
- Content writing in the Semantic web
Throughout them we will take a look at the big picture of interconnectedness and at the way "constant connectivity" changes our approach to the Web, how we search, our behaviour online and ultimately our texts.
In this lecture we look at web and texts from a broader perspective: as tools for communication, governed by the principles of "connecting the dots", exchange, cooperation.
We will talk about SEO, social media and the growing transparency on the web and You will find out why content writing for the sake of producing tons of text with specific words in them didn't work? You will also learn to look at texts as nets and why and how you can use them as a collaborative tool as to unfold their true potential.
The goal of this lecture is to introduce you to the Semantic Web - both as a vision, described by the father of the Web Sir Tim Berners-Lee and as a currently evolving layer of the web.
Here you learn about the origin, the emergence and the current state of the semantic web. We will also connect the underlying principles of the semantic web to the transformations of SEO and digital marketing, as far as content writing is concerned.
This first half (Part 1) will cover:
The original vision of Tim Berners-Lee for the semantic web; the need for semantics on the web and the asynchronous unfolding of the vision.
This second half (Part 2) will cover the building blocks of the Semantic Web, introducing you to the W3C, the Semantic Web Standards and the concept of Linked Data.

In a semantic web what defines a certain entity is the way it relates (is linked) to other entities. A thing is defined by its relationships.
Writing is one of the ways you build and reinforce relationships that matter and bring you engagement that further translates into business.
In this lecture you will learn how to create relevant connections with and within your text. We will talk about the semantic connections you generate with your content writing on one hand and the importance of the engagement you foster with it on the other.
The goal of this lecture is to guide you through two understandings of meaning and how they should naturally meet in your content writing:
- Meaning for audiences, realized through creating experiences (i.e. the meaning and the value you add for your readers)
- Meaning for machines, realized through ontologies (i.e. what search engines see and classify as meaning in your content.
The best way to future-proof your content is to use it to build an audience and to further grow together with this audience. Good content is created beyond keywords, where people are becoming parts of the structures you've built to interact with them.
In this lecture you will learn about query-based content, the semantics of your texts and about words being experiences in the first place.
You will also see how we, as creators and publishers, should cast a wider semantic net with our content and make sense of our data, so that it has lasting value.
What you've learned about relationships, meaning and semantic networks in one place together with practical steps what to do with that knowledge, when it comes to content writing.
The final stage of the Web according to Tim Berners-Lee is a Web of Trust. The question for us as content creators is that we should be really considerate about the way we build relationships in a web where trust is key.

In the second lecture we will talk about how being trustworthy, engageable and discoverable (the T.E.D. concept) can be your biggest advantage.
I believe the the principles of data and the principles of Rhetorics are a special mix for crafting effective content that empowers readers and is worth engaging with.
In this lecture we will talk about how velocity, variety, veracity and volume (the so called 4 Vs of data) can serve three very important elements of the art of persuasion - logos, ethos, pathos, as to inform your content writing.
In today's web, trust, engageability and discoverability are the facets of one and the same gem - the gem of successful digital presence.
In this lecture, we will look at the T.E.D. concept in detail. The three things to remember when writing in a web of trust:
- Be Trustworthy
- Be Engageable
- Be Discoverable
We will talk about the importance of becoming a trusted entity and engaging hearts and minds. You will also learn about a formula by Barry Feldman that will keep you organized and effective with your content writing projects.

- A table with the parallels between the 4 Vs of data, the Rhetorical Triangle and content writing.
This section is about you learning to ask yourself (or your clients) the right questions, the questions that will put you on the path to content writing that serves you through serving other people. Questions that will make you think before you ink, plan and execute with intent.
With the help of the three documents in this section you will learn to to think about: relevant topics, word usage, readership, loyalty, experiences, voice.
Questions to get you going with planning the content that will serve your business goals while living up to the expectations of your customers.
Questions to get you going with creating content that weaves threads from relevant sources on the web making for new understanding that enriches people's perspectives and helps them achieve their goals.

In this section you will unleash the thing-finder in you and will surrender to the joy of communicating through writing.
You will find three assignments in the document that follows, together with guiding questions that should help you in the process of thinking and inking.

In this final stage of the course you'll be using your creativity and what you have learnt from the lectures to help an owner of a company for Home automation systems their website content and with some blog articles ideation and planning.
When writing, remember: there's no right or wrong way of content writing, the only three constants in this process are veracity, awareness of the interconnected world we live and write in, and last: clear intent.
