Welcome! Beth and I are excited to welcome you to Video Marketing for Professional Coaches. This course will help your position yourself as an expert in your niche and you'll create deep connections with current and potential clients.
This course is divided into eight sections and forty lectures. Each section covers a broad topic area like "editing." Each lecture digs deep and explains one specific action for that topic like "editing with iMovie" or "Why editing is important." Be sure to pause often and try out the techniques you are learning.
In this lecture, you'll learn how to navigate through this Udemy course, including accessing supplemental materials.
Stuff, technical, rockstar on camera, YouTube and content creation.
This course starts by introducing you to the "stuff" of online video - cameras, lights, etc. From there, we go into the techniques - how to film, how to edit, etc. Then you'll learn how to look good on camera. Then on to setting up a presence on YouTube and finally, the most important part - how to create content your audience will love.
Most people already own everything they need to start making online videos. In this section we'll talk about types of equipment and the pros and cons of each.
Most laptops have built in webcams, and they are easy to add if you don't have one already. Webcams are a great tool to start learning about online video.
Smartphones like the iPhone 5 or 6 record high quality video and are the next step up from a webcam.
DSLRs/Mirrorless cameras will give you the most professional looking visuals, but they are more tricky to operate. In this lesson we show you the pros and cons of DSLRs.
Most cameras / laptops have built in microphones. In the next three lectures I talk about the pros and cons of three common types of microphones.
Lavalier microphones clip to your shirt and record audio very close to your mouth. In this lesson, I talk about the lavaliers I like, how to put them on and why they sound better than your on-camera microphone.
Shotgun microphones are common, easy to use microphones. In this lesson, you'll see how a shotgun microphone works.
Podcasting microphones are becoming more popular because they provide high quality audio and plug directly into your computer. In this lesson, I cover why you might want to use a podcasting microphone
If you select a great place to record your videos, you can avoid many technical issues. In the next three lectures I cover lighting, sound and visuals of your recording location.
In this lesson, you'll learn about different lighting options and you'll learn the basics of 3-point lighting.
Sound is very responsive to the environment. In this lecture, I'll tell you how to find a great place to record, and how you can modify a place that's less than perfect.
What look are you going for in your video? The spot where you record can add to or detract from the image you are projecting to your clients. In this lesson, I cover different aspects of what to look for (and what to avoid.)
There are many places where you can host your online videos: YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Wistia, etc. I cover the top four and share pros and cons of each so that you can decide which host is right for you.
In this section, you'll learn how to use your video and audio recording equipment (webcam, iPhone or DSLR.)
Recording your video with a webcam is pretty straight forward - as long as you know where to find the tools. In this lesson, I take you step by step through the process.
An iPhone (or similar smartphone) is a great video camera. In this lesson I cover the simple steps of using the built in camera on your iPhone.
Using a DSLR can be tricky, but rewarding. In this lesson, I take you through a 60 second crash course in using a DSLR.
If you want your videos to stand out from the pack, and you want to make recording move more quickly, then you need to edit. In this module, I cover simple editing software and how to use it.
There are many editing options, from the basic YouTube editor up to pricey professional editing systems. In this section, you'll learn how to use a few simple editing softwares
Be sure to download the practice file to follow along and learn hands-on.
YouTube has a built in editor that is good for trimming clips and basic color correction. In this lesson you'll learn how to use the YouTube editor.
iMovie is a light version of Final Cut Pro - so it's powerful software. In this lecture, Mac users will learn how to use iMovie to create their videos.
Movie Maker is Microsoft's free software for PC users. Although limited, it is a good starter editing system. In this lecture, you'll learn how to do basic edits in Movie Maker.
Editing Overview and Quiz
Everyone want to look good on video. In this lesson, I'll teach you the secrets to looking great on camera.
Confidence Overview and Quiz
YouTube is the #2 Search Engine, and if you want to attract viewers, there are a number of things you can do to set up your YouTube channel for the most success. I show you how in this lecture.
Once you've created a channel, there are a number of options to make it look more professional. In this lesson, I go over those options.
Creating a YouTube Channel Quiz
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the term for helping connect your content with people looking for your content. There is an incredible amount of information generated every second. SEO is what helps the viewer find the most relevant content. As a creator, you need to follow certain rules to improve your chances of being found by viewers.
Once you understand SEO, you can apply these principles to your YouTube channel. In this video, I show you all the places you can improve your SEO.
There are thousands of different ways to structure your video - but there is one method that is used by most of the top YouTubers and YouTube marketers. I call it the Magic Formula, and I share it in this lesson.
In this section, I teach you how to select topics for your videos. I break it your content into three types that you will mix together to create your schedule.
Before you record a video, you need to determine why you are making it. The purpose is the value you receive from making the video.
The Target Audience is the viewer that can deliver on your purpose. There's also a secondary Target Audience. I explain audiences in this lecture.
Value is what you are providing to your Target Audience. If your videos don't provide value, no one will watch. Value is one of the most important factors separating videos with single digit view counts from those that are in the thousands or millions.
In this lesson, you'll learn how to schedule your video releases for maximum impact.
As with all great projects, defining success before you start helps to keep you on track. In this lesson, you'll learn how to assign metrics to each video.
Thank you for participating in this course. I hope that you've been working on your first videos as you moved from lecture to lecture. Please let us know how it went by leaving a review and participating in the discussion section.
