Taking G+ Hangouts To The Next Level

Section 1: Before You Take Hangout Queen Training Lecture 1 00:57

Deborah introduces this Hangout training course and what to expect to learn. This class goes beyond the basics, with an objective of teaching you how to have the professional edge in your hangouts, and yet, still keeping them fun.

Lecture 2 03:36

An entertaining mock-up of a classroom discussion of the value of Hangouts for Webinars. What would you like to use G+ Hangouts for, and what would you like to learn in this course?

Note: There is a reference to purchase of software for webinars. This only applies to webinars and will be covered in the "Offer Webinars" lecture. For everything else, using G+ Hangouts, all you need is you and the internet connection (and this course, of course. lol).

TextSection 2: Creative Uses for G+ Hangouts Lecture 4 27:21

This section: "Creative Uses for G+ Hangouts" is a section of examples and idea-generating videos and does not contain actual instruction on the how-to aspect. That is found in later sections of this course.

This video is an example of the use of hangouts in a Social Event (a.k.a. Social Party that involves more than one social media platform), as well as a discussion on different uses for hangouts.

Please do not feel you need to watch the entire video for the instruction. The purpose of this video is to inspire ideas. For example, if you have already decided that you want to use hangouts for webinars, this video may be helpful in helping you to identify other uses for hangouts, but it may not be helpful if you only want to do webinars. In that case, I recommend that you skip this video and go on to the video about webinars, or one of the following sections, which contain how-to training.

Lecture 5 Text

An introductory lesson (and accompanying worksheet) to get you thinking about what you want to do with your hangout(s). Remember, you don't have to choose just one. You can be creative!

This article (and accompanying worksheet) talks about the idea of using G+ Hangouts to help you get your feet wet (or fine tune your game) in the arena of public speaking. It has been used by Key Note Speaker, Patrick Schwerdtfeger and is a great playground and portfolio building option for those who want to get paid $3k and up for speaking.

Otherwise, the hangout itself is an example of an expert interview but contains examples, from Patrick himself, on how he uses video for his public speaking portfolio. In the same way, you can take it a step further and use G+ hangouts to create your own public speaking portfolio. Need some ideas? Ask me in the question area and I'll help you! -Deborah

This video is an example of the use of hangouts for obtaining testimonials. The example would be if someone wants to give a testimonial, but doesn't have the means or know-how. You could start a campaign to get testimonials from those willing participants. Hey, you could even get 9 in one sitting, one hangout. This particular video demonstrates a video production technique with the testimonials interjected. You can also watch the testimonials "live" in the hangout (though it isn't shown to public viewers). These are examples of re-purposing the content in many different ways (and promoting other people's wonderful statements about you (a.k.a. testimonials) at the same time. Need more ideas? Ask me :) -Deborah

This lecture, along with the two accompanying worksheets, serves the purpose of helping you to think through your branding hierarchy and the target audience. This is a very general overview to get you thinking. The reason for its inclusion in a hangout class is that it may relate to how you setup your G+ Brand Page, your G+ Cover, your events, etc. It may even define how you want to set up your "lower third" in the hangout. If you are interested in more information on these topics, you may want to consider searching for classes on Udemy that cover branding and general business topics.

This is dependent on your style and your objectives, but that doesn't mean that it has to be a free-for-all (unless that is your objective). This lesson helps you to evaluate the style and flow of the hangout and how you can keep to your own defined objectives.

Section 6: Hangout Preparation (Event Planning, Web Site, Studio) Lecture 26 Text

This lesson (and accompanying worksheet) covers how to set up your G+ Covers, for your pages, and ultimately, an understanding of how to use them for events. This is helpful in creating cohesive, consistent branding when announcing your hangout event and sharing your posts form a consistently branded profile or page.
